Single row tapered roller bearings are of separable design, which means conical inner ring (cone) and outer ring (cup) with rollers and cage assembly can be separately mounted. Tapered roller bearings can withstand combined loads, i.e. radial and axial loads acting simultaneously. The extension lines of the raceway converge at the same point on the bearing axis for real rolling and therefore have low friction torque during operation. The axial load capacity of tapered Roller bearings is changing with the contact angle α increasing. The contact angle is usually between 10 °and 30 °, and the angle is related to the calculated coefficient e. The larger the value of e is, the greater the contact angle is.

Among single row tapered roller bearings, 320 &329 series tapered roller bearings are usually used in pairs for machine tools’ spindles. The accuracy of 320 & 329 series tapered roller bearings is required with P5, P4, P2.
