How to disassemble the cross roller bearing? How to store it after disassembly?

- Oct 16, 2020-

When the crossed roller bearing is in operation, the accuracy may be reduced or become invalid due to the influence of external or internal factors. This requires us to disassemble and repair or replace it, as well as replace some old equipment with new ones, the bearing is disassembled and stored for other equipment. In either case, it needs to be disassembled in the correct way. Here TEDIN will introduce how to disassemble the cross roller bearing.

1. Disassembly method of crossed roller bearing

1). Percussion method: The percussion force is generally applied to the inner ring of the cross roller bearing, and the percussion force of the shielding machine room should not be added to the rolling element and cage of the cross roller bearing. This method is simple and easy to implement, but it is easy to damage the cross For roller bearings, when the crossed roller bearing is at the end of the shaft, use a copper rod or other soft metal material smaller than the inner diameter of the crossed roller bearing against the shaft end, add a spacer under the crossed roller bearing, and tap it lightly with a hammer Click to remove it. When applying this method, attention should be paid to the proper placement of the pad and the correct focus point.

2). Pull-out method: Use a special puller. When disassembling, as long as the handle is rotated, the cross roller bearing will be slowly pulled out. When disassembling the outer ring of the cross-roller bearing, the corners of the two legs of the puller should be opened outward; when removing the inner ring of the cross-roller bearing, the two legs of the puller should be inward and stuck on the end face of the inner ring of the cross-roller bearing.

3). Pushing method: Use a press to push the crossed roller bearing to work smoothly and reliably, without damaging the machine and the shielded machine room of the crossed roller bearing. The press has manual push, mechanical or hydraulic pressure. Note: The pressing point of the press should be at the center of the shaft, and it should not be biased.

4). Hot dismantling method: used to dismantle tightly fitted cross roller bearings. First, pour the engine oil heated to about 100°C on the cross roller bearing to be dismantled with an oil can. After the cross roller bearing ring is heated and expand, the cross roller bearing can be pulled out with a puller.

Regardless of whether it is due to failure or replacement of equipment, the cross-roller bearing should not be disassembled after disassembly, otherwise, the preload of the bearing will change. The editor recommends that the adjustment and repair be completed under the guidance of the manufacturer to ensure that the bearing can be reinstalled normally; However, as a precision bearing with a special structure, the crossed roller bearing requires special care when storing it. Only in a suitable environment can the accuracy and quality of the crossed roller bearing be maintained. So when the bearing is repaired, or the new equipment does not need to replace the spare bearing, how should these cross roller bearings be stored?

2. The storage of crossed roller bearings

1). The cross roller bearing should be stored in a clean and dry environment. The temperature and humidity should be controlled during transportation and storage. The temperature and humidity should be within an acceptable fixed range and should be more than 30cm away from the ground.

2). Some bearings have a certain shelf life. For example, for bearings with dust caps and oil seals, when stored for a period of time, the starting torque of the bearing will be larger than that of a new bearing. At the same time, since the lubricating performance of the grease will be destroyed after long-term storage, the bearing should be checked on the turntable for regular maintenance.

3). To ensure the normal and reliable operation of the bearing, sufficient lubrication must be applied to prevent direct metal contact between the rolling elements, raceways, and cage, causing wear and corrosion of the bearing surface. Therefore, in various applications, it is extremely important to select the appropriate lubricant and lubrication method. At the same time, it also requires correct maintenance.

4). The actual selection of lubricants is mainly based on operating conditions, that is, the temperature range and speed, and the influence of the surrounding environment. If reliable lubrication can be ensured, when the dosage of lubricant used in the bearing is small, its operating temperature is lower, but at the same time it has other functions, such as sealing or heat dissipation, the dosage will be increased. Therefore, when installing the bearing, filling grease generally fills up the remaining space of the bearing, and it is enough to control 1/3-1/2 of the remaining space of the bearing box.

When we can keep these disassembled cross roller bearings intact, then we can reduce the possibility of their failure in subsequent use, and how the cross roller bearings are disassembled will also affect the subsequent use. Once the disassembly is wrong, It may not only be the damage of the bearing, but the serious situation may cause damage to the equipment.
