Tapered roller bearings are mainly used in automobiles, mining, plastic machinery and other industries. During the use of bearings, maintenance is a necessary way to maintain tapered roller bearings. When we overhaul tapered roller bearings, we will find that bearings often appear. Some faults, that is, bearing faults that are common in our daily life. According to my understanding, I will share some common faults in the maintenance of tapered roller bearings.
1. Pockmark
Pockmarks: refers to the small pits that are scattered or clustered on the surface of the part.
When we open the tapered roller bearing during the maintenance process, we will find that the bearing has multiple pits in the inner ring raceway, which causes the rollers on the cage and the inner ring raceway to gradually generate a temperature rise during the rotation process. , resulting in a hot shaft, and the bearing is scrapped.
Causes of pitting on the raceway surface of tapered roller bearings:
①The metal surface is fatigued, and under the cyclic action of rolling contact stress, the microscopic cracks formed in the metal subsurface layer gradually develop into tiny pit-like peelings.
②There are inclusions or large-grained carbides in the subsurface of the metal to form stress concentration, and microscopic cracks are generated prematurely and gradually develop into peeling.
③ Improper assembly or poor lubrication.
2. Bearing rolling
Bearing skinning: refers to the extremely thin metal skinning phenomenon that occurs on the bearing surface due to fatigue.
Bearing peeling is one of the common faults in bearing maintenance, which is often found in bearing visual inspection. The following set of bearings is the bearing worker who found abnormal noise in the rotation of the bearing during the rotation inspection process. After disassembling the bearing, it was found that the rollers were scratched and discolored, and the inner raceway of the outer ring was rolled.
The reasons for the rolling of the bearing raceway surface are as follows:
①The metal surface is fatigued early. Fatigue spalling of very shallow layers due to the action of rolling contact stress and sliding friction.
②The heat treatment of the material is poor.
③ Poor lubrication.
④ overload stress.
3. Bearing peeling
Bearing peeling: refers to the phenomenon of metal flake peeling on the bearing surface under the cyclic action of high contact stress.
Bearing peeling is one of the most common faults in bearing maintenance, and it is also one of the most harmful bearing failure factors in the operation of trucks. After the bearing is peeled off, it has a certain depth and area, the surface is uneven and scaly, with sharp groove angles, and obvious abnormal noise can be heard during the bearing rotation inspection. Bearing peeling generally occurs on the inner and outer ring raceway surfaces and roller rolling surfaces of the bearing. The raceway surface of the inner ring of the bearing was peeled off. From the visual inspection of the bearing, it was found that the left bearing was stuck and abnormal noise. After removing and disassembling the bearing, it was found that the outer raceway of the inner ring of the bearing was severely peeled off, and the peeling area was about 30×25mm. The raceway surface of the outer ring of the bearing is peeled off. From the visual inspection of the bearing, the worker found that the left bearing of the wheelset shaft number 15942 has abnormal sound when rotating. to 4 years.
Causes of bearing peeling:
①The bearing material is poor and improper heat treatment leads to substandard hardness and low strength.
② Impurities mixed in grease is one of the reasons for the peeling off of the outer raceway of the inner ring.
③ There is a brutal operation in the assembly process of the trolley and the wheelset, and the impact force on the bearing raceway surface is one of the causes of bearing peeling.
