Mounting method of cylindrical roller bearings

- Jun 12, 2023-

1. Preparatory work:

Firstly, the dimensions of the cylindrical roller bearings are checked to ensure that they meet the requirements. The bearings are then cleaned and an appropriate amount of lubricant is applied to the bearings and bearing housings.

2. Mount the bearings:

Place the cylindrical roller bearing on the housing, taking care to align the circumferential part of the bearing with the circular hole in the housing. Place the gland ring on the bearing and then press the gland ring onto the bearing using firm hand pressure.

3. Fit the shaft evenly:

Place the bearing shaft on the housing and fit all the housings and bearings in turn by hand using a gentle, step-by-step force. Make sure that the dimensions of the bearing, shaft and housing match.

4. Lubrication:

Apply lubricant to the housing, bearing and shaft. The lubricant should be applied to the grooves of the housing to ensure adequate lubrication of the bearing during operation.

5. Adjustment of mounting dimensions:

During the final assembly stage, fine adjustments must be made based on measurements. Accurate measurements must be taken to minimise unnecessary bearing failures or mounting problems.

6. Finishing:

Once the bearings have been fitted, they must be checked for correct seating. If any problems are found, they must be rectified prior to operation to ensure that the bearing will operate correctly.
